Medical fund for Stef and family

Stefanie, 40 year old wife of Brent and mother of 7 year old Ian and 3 year old Ella, was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in May of 2018 after her first routine mammogram. Although the cancer was detected at stage zero, given the extensive and aggressive nature, her young age, and a positive test for the CHEK 2 breast cancer gene mutation, Stefanie underwent a double mastectomy to remove the cancer in July. Stefanie currently continues to undergo the lengthy process of reconstruction.
Throughout the past 7 years, the family has also faced significant and ongoing medical challenges with their 2 children. Ian and Ella were both born prematurely at 32 & 31 weeks respectively. Ella was diagnosed shortly after birth with a genetic condition known as 22Q11.2 deletion syndrome for which she continues to undergo specialty care. As an infant, Ian struggled with numerous conditions including a congenital heart defect, and numerous ENT surgeries. He currently still follows up with his pulmonologist and ENT specialists, and is also under an IEP at school for his recently diagnosed ADHD.
Now, with Stefanie’s recent cancer diagnosis and treatment, the family would definitely benefit from your financial help. Travel & lodging, depleted PTO causing significant amounts of time off of work without pay for Stefanie, and copays & deductibles have added up for the family. Even after Stefanie’s reconstruction is complete, the family will continue to incur expenses related to medical care for her frequent follow-ups. Stefanie currently receives specialty care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN which is out of network for the family’s insurance plan.
The family currently resides in East Grand Forks, MN where they both work as Athletic Trainers. With frequent time needed away from work for her and their children’s medical care continuing over the years, Stefanie has recently dropped from full to part time work hours.
Please consider any amount of financial donation in order to alleviate some of the stress of financial burden for this family who has been dealt more than their share of medical challenges over the recent years.
