Medical Fundraiser for Mallory Corkum
Donation protected
Cheryl Corkum is a well known Lunenburg artist, who has taught many students around her humble kitchen table. Thanks to Cheryl, many of those students have gone on to sell their own art. We are Cheryl’s Wednesday afternoon group, and we want to ask for your help because Cheryl is too proud to do it herself.
Cheryl and Kevin’s daughter Mallory is very sick. As many of you are now aware Mallory has recently been diagnosed with heavy metal toxicity (sometimes referred to as Gadolinium toxicity or Gadolinium Deposition Disease). It is very rare and is the result of her body not processing the contrast dye which was injected during a recent MRI. The MRI was ordered as part her ongoing battle with Adenomyosis and stage 4 Endometriosis, which has caused lesions in her bowel, abdomen, adhesion, and cysts in her liver. Mallory’s ongoing medical bills are substantial.
The pain and suffering Mallory is enduring, as a result of this dangerous condition, is difficult for her loved ones to witness, especially from afar. Mallory is living in the UK and was working towards her Doctorate degree. Unfortunately, because of this recent health emergency, Mallory is no longer able to work and has had to leave her Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. She is supported by her partner James, who is doing everything possible to keep things going financially and emotionally, but Mallory is otherwise alone, and only able to connect with Cheryl and Kevin via phone and social media. She needs her Mom and Dad.
Surgeries, diagnostic tests, and the ongoing costs of working with both natural and traditional physicians has drained much of the savings Mallory and James had. Kevin and Cheryl are retired. They are very proud Lunenburgers, and would never ask for help unless it was a last resort.
Witnessing Mallory, James and family navigate through this difficult time has been harrowing.
Both Mallory and James are known by many who love them, as people who give back to their loved ones and communities and now we are all able to pull together and offer them the kindness and support they have offered so many others.
If you are in a position and wish to assist with a donation, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone like to send a card, letter, photos, and prayers directly to Mallory, reach out and Cheryl or Kevin will provide her UK address. The Corkum family want to thank all of you for your unwavering support, compassion, and generosity during this difficult time.
If you would like to learn more about Gadolinium toxicity you can browse the information and research published by The Lighthouse Project: https://gadoliniumtoxicity.com/, join the Facebook group: MRI Gadolinium Contrast Safety Side Effects & Toxicity Research, or read the published medical literature by radiologists working in this area such as Dr. Brent Wagner or Dr. Richard Semelka (https://www.richardsemelka.com/).
