Strength4Sue

When Sue was 47 years old she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Sue had triple negative breast cancer which only 10-20% of people are diagnosed with. After some personal investigation, Sue learned it had been missed for close to 2 years in her mammograms.

Sue had a lumpectomy during which it was discovered the cancer had spread to a number of her lymph nodes. Following the lumpectomy Sue underwent both radiation and chemotherapy for over a year. The doctors told her she was cancer free at that point.

3 years later, Sue is battling again. She felt a lump in her neck and started to feel pain in her chest. She began to have difficulty breathing and was tired a great deal of the time. Sue's husband took her to emergency where doctors discovered Sue now has plural effusion surrounding her heart and in her lungs. The fluid surrounding Sue's heart and lungs has cancer in it which has started a new cycle of treatment. 

Sue is undergoing chemotherapy in Calgary and immunotherapy at BajaMed Group in Tijuana Mexico under the guidance of Dr. Jorge Serrano and team. Sue was not a candidate for immunotherapy in Canada but through Sue's own employer was able to make the connection with Dr. Serrano. She has had her first treatment and is responding well. 

The goal of this fundraiser is to pay for the immunotherapy drugs for Sue. She has her first 2 grand babies due in February and June. Sue's family and friends want Sue to hold the both when they come. 

Should we raise more money than our goal, money will be diverted to other people in need of cancer treatment with Dr. Serrano and team.
