On Friday, March 10, 2023, we said goodbye to Robyn Mary Jones after an intense battle with ovarian cancer. She was only 20 years old.
In February of 2022, Robyn was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of ovarian cancer, Stage 3A. She was in her second year of college at Illinois State University pursuing a degree in Special Education when she started experiencing health issues. This resulted in her having to delay her education to begin her battle against cancer. Her treatment protocol consisted of 6 rounds of intensive chemo and the removal of one of her ovaries. Sadly, they found the cancer had spread in October of 2022. Doctors ordered additional rounds of chemo, but due to being immunocompromised, she had numerous complications that prevented her from completing the treatments. Instead, she spent the last 4 months enduring multiple back-to-back surgeries, including the removal of her other ovary, as well as frequent ER visits. Throughout the entirety of her treatments, her mother Angi was her biggest advocate and remained by her side helping her every step of the way. In the last week, one complication after the next led to Robyn’s decision to be at home with the people she loved most for her final moments. She passed away peacefully on her terms surrounded by her family and beloved dog Gunner.
Robyn had many talents and passions, including dancing, cooking/baking, and makeup artistry, and was always up for an adventure. She always had a way of making people laugh, especially her family and friends. She shared a special bond with her younger brother Dylan, loved spending time with her stepdad, and was her mom’s best friend. Robyn was a fighter and always full of life. Despite the many hardships thrown her way over the last 13 months, she remained steadfast and courageous in her battle. Her positive attitude and determination were inspirational to so many and she will never be forgotten.
We are asking for your help on behalf of the Jones family to help cover medical and funeral expenses, as they have been through so much in such a short amount of time. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated during this heartbreaking time.
