Medical Help for Betsy

I am writing this gofund me for my Godmother. Betsy was there the day I was born and has always been a second Mom to me. Her daughter Norra has been my little sister since the day she was born and we've always treated each other as such. My sister is her sole caretaker while working full time, going to school and caring for 3 beautiful children. My sister, nor my Godmom ever ask for help so this time I'm reaching out to my community and theirs for assistance.

In early 2022 she suffered a fall at a medical facility resulting in fractures in her hip and neck. When the hospital did surgery on her neck it got infected and she began aspirating, went into respiratory failure, and required intubation. Fortunately, she is still with us today but not without facing many more obstacles. She had to spend another year at a facility where medical mistakes including medication errors and a fall occurred, at no fault of her own and they now want her to pay an outstanding amount all while her family was trying to get her discharged and have the mistakes addressed. The last facility has filed a civil suit against her and we are trying to raise money to secure legal aid and fight for her (rights).

Betsy currently requires 24/7 around-the-clock care, and medication management, and is bedridden due to her fracture. Her rides to dr appointments require a special wheelchair ride which costs $240-$350 round trip and is not covered by insurance and has missed appointments due to the cost. The family has submitted paper reimbursement forms but are still pending all while she still has to purchase her incontinence supplies, such as diapers, pads, bed pads, sprays, washes etc. We are in hopes to raise as much as possible and any assistance is appreciated as this will be used to offset medical costs and to help secure legal aid.
