Medical help for Juice
JUICE AN AMERICAN RED NOSE BULLDOG ALAUNT BLOODLINE
Born 12/07/2018 @juiceloves on Instagram
Juice was born with swimmers syndrome like a star fish. His front legs
are not developing correctly. When I got Juice at 10 weeks old he could barely walk and was scared of his surroundings since it was his first
time outside the house where he was born in. Stuck on his belly for the first 9 weeks of his life he could only use his mouth to protect himself
from his siblings. I first met Juice during his 2nd week after his birth
and he was the first one I picked up because I saw how he was crying
and stuck on his belly while his sister was playing normally. I picked him up and he peed on me right away. I didn't know later at 10 weeks old he would be my baby pup.
JUICE AT 10 WEEKS OLD & LEARNING ABOUT HIS LEGS
His back legs were tied and corrected but fronts did not fully correct
themselves. When I got Juice I had to get a harness to help him learn to
walk and play. Helping him every day up and down the stairs. I took him to puppy school for 6 weeks keeping him socialized with other puppies and festival events to be use to people. He mostly rode in his wagon
everywhere we go and then gets out to slightly play.
MANY VETS WERE TO EXPENSIVE AND TURNED US AWAY
We went to so many vets and I spent a lot of money at some and he
completed up to 4 different shots as all dogs are suppose too. Many
vets wont even have the doctor come out and look at him unless I pay
the $165. I kept paying and paying and some would give me very little
time and one gave me 2 minutes of time and said to fast saying he can't be helped. I didn't believe them so I researched and kept looking as I
still do to this very day.
GROWING TO FAST AND STILL NO HELP OR RESULTS
As he got bigger he was happy to finally learn to play with other dogs at the dog parks but can't keep up because of his leg problems. I take him everywhere in a wagon when he is too tired to walk or he will climb in
on his own when he is done walking. Last week he suddenly had the
strength to be a dog and run fast like a dog. He was so happy and at
11PM at night not wanting to sleep, he was super playful so for the first time he walked more than one block. He ran a block very fast with me
and walked 4 blocks. The next day Saturday we went to a park in
San Francisco and he ran wild very happy. Sunday he suddenly wanted
to sleep all day having me worried. Monday this week he woke me up
crying in pain. He could not get up. I went back to a few vets again not
able to afford or getting denied once again.
FINALLY X-RAYS
Finally I was referred to a really nice vet in Concord, CA called Sage
and they were reasonable price and still over my budget but & glad I
just finished doing a really big drone job for a city. & Juice's pain I took care of his X-rays right away, pain medicine injections and picked up his prescriptions after. The results of his X-rays were sad and had me
fighting tears. His joints didn't line up properly like normal dogs.
They said that is the way he was born. So all the other doctors who said he may grow into it were wrong. Because he is still growing now at 7
months as of July 7th his joints are hurting him. He now weighs 62 lbs
and I have to carry him up and down the huge stairs for him to go potty and get to my car. The doctor said he might need to get wheels for his front legs as he gets older. I really hope he can be fixed to be normal.
WE ARE VERY MUCH A LIKE AND NEED EACH OTHER
I take him everywhere I go and he cries when I'm gone more than 5 or
ten minutes sometimes. He loves to cuddle and is sweet to everyone
who meets him. As in this profile photo he makes this expression often and many other face expressions that grabs so many hearts everywhere we go. I work part time on my own as a photographer, indy filmmaker and content creator for certain clients on call. I haven't had a dog since 1996 with my family. Now being on my own I never expected having a
dog and I'm a foster failure. Part of my attachment is that I relate to the way he was born. I was born with my legs outwards and after birth they had to break my legs to correct them. I would of been walking like a duck they said if my legs didn't get corrected. I'm a dancer and roller skater doing things with my legs that people would have know idea my legs
were not correct at birth. So I feel Juice closer to me when I think about my legs knowing I have hope he can be just as active as I am. He can some times get hyper active just like my parents said I was as a kid. He
just wants to play.
HOW & WHY I GOT JUICE
My neighbor across the street asked me to find a home for him on my
social media because the mom and grandfather are not getting a long
with all three being there. I said he can stay with me for a week till I find a home for him. I thought it would be nice to have a puppy for a week
since it's been a long time. But the face he would make when I would
leave the room even to the kitchen or shower was getting to me. Then
there was many people responding that wanted him but then I asked
my neighbor why can't he walk normal. Then that's when I learned
about his leg problem in full detail. I didn't feel right just giving him to
just anyone because how do I know if they will take care of him.
We both already loved each other so fast I felt like it would be like
giving up a child. I couldn't do it. So after I decided I'll keep him and help him I didn't know how serious it would be and how much money and
emotional stress it would be just trying to get him help. Going to the vet was the reality of raising a handicap dog.
WHAT IT WILL COST TO FIX HIM?
I can't imagine my life with out Juice so even with some vets saying to
me that some dogs in his situation are put to sleep or people giving him up that made my heart ache. I will not listen to those kind of vets. He's only 7 months old with a lot of life left and he so badly wants to play.
He loves going to all the stores with me in his wagon and even when he was walking. He enjoys watching me roller skate and we even have a
dance we do together making people smile. He loves watching me make his food adding his favorites mixed in the bowl and even loves raw
string beans. He misses playing with other dogs and hope he can get
the surgery he needs to be the great dog he is. I put the price at $5,000 for now for all the cost that I have been recently quoted for more
doctor visits and therapy. Once they say if he can have surgery or not
then the total of what that cost may add on to this gofundme a lot
more. People tell me to get pet insurance but I can't because after I
called them he doesn't qualify as a pre-conditioned problem.
Thank you to all my family, friends and strangers who show so much
love and support for Juice. Thank you to all that donate and help him,
we will be for ever grateful and thankful for your help. If
you ever see us Juice will be happy to take photos with you. You can see
some of his life experiences on his instagram page @juiceloves
