Meet Major
My in-laws called us about a dog in the farm field limping and appeared to be bleeding so we drove down to the area and there was this sweet boy in the middle of field. He was so scared and wouldn’t come up to us or would walk away when we would walk up to him at first. So I went alone and attempted to catch him by myself , which after a good five minutes I did. He was so sweet!
After securing him with a leash, I see multiple possible bullet wounds new and old over his entire body, I’m not sure what/if he was shot by.
Currently working with a rescue to get him to the emergency vet and potentially fostering our sweet little catch to help nurse him back to health. If you feel in your heart to donate, please do or please share so we can get him the help he needs medically!
Update 11/29: I picked him up late last night from the emergency vet and we got home at midnight. After they did work on him and further examined him, the holes over his body do not all look like bullet wounds. With all his fur it made it look to be like it was but the vet doesn’t think it was a bullet of any kind, they actually are extremely puzzled on what could have happened and even ruled our animal attack. It could have been some trap or maybe even barb wire is what it looks most consistent with. He actually has more than what I saw when we picked him up too. He had more then the one puncture wound on his shoulder and under his chest/stomach he had a good size gash. This gives me a little more peace of mind that a person didn’t purposely hurt him, but my golly this guy has been through it.
Now that he’s home with us and we are going to be getting him back in good shape. Today we’ll do meet and greets with our dogs to make sure he’s dog friendly.
Thank you to everyone who has been so incredibly kind in donating to his vet care.
