Medical Help for Marnie and Guy
I once wrote that I feared male-pattern baldness more than cancer. I was being glib. Cancer is terrifying.
My friend Guy Dorian Sr. and his wife Marnie Fleming Dorian have been dealing with this terror in a vacuum. They’ve kept Marnie’s situation quiet because they are dignified people who don’t report every cough and sniffle on Twitter and Instagram. They’ve been shouldering their burden as a couple, but the weight has gotten heavier. So it’s time for their friends to tell people because this sweet couple needs some help.
If you’re a comics person, you know Guy from his outstanding work for the major publishers. If you’re a professional, you know that work doesn’t make you a rich man. More, you know Marnie and Guy as people who immediately jump in and help when someone’s in trouble. I met Guy years ago when he approached me, unsolicited, looking to help with a fundraiser. Good people. A mensch and his menschette who adore each other. Facebookers never see one without the other. It’s a love story that we all applaud.
Unfortunately, we all have our tests. Guy and Marnie have to make it through this thing and the rest of us have to step up. We’re here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is.
Please pitch in a little to help these fine folks with their mounting medical expenses—expenses that insurance does not cover. And share this fundraiser far and wide with your friends. And send your love and blessings to Marnie and Guy.
You have mine,
Clifford Meth
