Medical Internship Study Abroad in Oaxaca

Hi everyone, my name is Janai Williams, I am a junior Psychology major, Spanish minor at Howard University. I am requesting your assistance in helping me raise funds to be a participant in the OAXACA Health Professions Study Abroad Program.  I will have the opportunity to travel to Universidad del Mar in Oaxaca, Mexico to study and complete a hands-on Medical Internship with a 4-week summer program. This program will allow me to stay on track for my Spanish minor requirements and graduate on time. As a Howard student, I have had to live with and face many challenges over these past couple of years.  I lost a year and a half of a true college experience due to Covid and to make matters worse, the following year all juniors and seniors were told to find their own housing off campus.  DC has a high cost of living so trying to find affordable apartments without a car for transportation was out of the question.  Saved scholarship funds have helped me stay afloat but times are still difficult between juggling school and bills. I do not qualify for any financial aid from the school nor from the city. Despite the stress of commuting, school, and bills, I have been able to successfully maintain a 3.7 GPA as well as committing  my time as an Event Coordinator for a community service learning organization on campus called Alternative Spring Break (ASB).  We are planning to work and serve in communities around the country during spring break who are in need as opposed to vacationing as many college students will do. I would truly appreciate any donations in order to participate in this once and a lifetime opportunity.
