Medical Mission in poor areas of El Salvador
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Priventa Health, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. Here's some more about the mission itself:
I am a US internal medicine physician with extensive experience in numerous medical missions in Peru and Ecuador, and am bringing a team of healthcare professionals from the US comprised of physicians and nurses to a medical mission in 2 of the poorest neighborhoods in El Salvador. Piggybacking on the construction of a brand new free school for the people of Colon, El Salvador, we will be treating patients with limited access to care in a multitude of specialties. Gynecology, family practice, internal medicine, and pediatrics will all be represented. Medications will be distributed and some testing will be done free of charge. These healthcare professionals are donating their precious time, energy and focus to this effort. In addition, we will also be traveling to a mountainous area of El Salvador with difficult road access near the border of Honduras. This population has very limited access to medical care, and for many, will be the first time receiving medical attention. Your contributions will go towards lodging and food for the healthcare professionals on the trip, as well as the purchase of medications and tests and other medical supplies and procedures that will be donated to the population.
Furthermore, once medical issues are identified, we will develop targeted health education talks to the community using the school as a platform in order to further the goal of prevention of numerous medical illnesses, and hence, the benefit of the community. The progress will be tracked carefully, and if successful, will serve as a model for disease prevention that can be distributed throughout the rest of Central and South America.
