In Loving Memory of Christopher “Chris” Lee Loper
Christopher “Chris” Lee Loper, a Beloved General Manager and resident of Woodbridge, VA, died suddenly and unexpectedly on August 16, 2023 at the age of 50, due to complications with his heart.
Chris is survived by his mother, Nola “Chris” Loper; his wife, Melissa Vicenzi; his daughter, Kyla Loper; his siblings, Myriah Adams, Melanie Bregg, Michael Connor, Amanda Wells, and several other step/half siblings. He is predeceased by his dad, Gary Bregg.
Chris was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 13, 1973, to Nola “Chris” Loper. On August 25, 2010, Chris married his wife, Melissa Vicenzi and July 11, 2011 he welcomed his beautiful daughter, Kyla Christine Loper, in to the world, who was the most important part of his life.
Chris was a man who could light up a room with his infectious laughter and warm smile. He had a zest for life that was truly contagious, and his lighthearted spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Whether it was cracking jokes, sharing funny stories, or simply being a shoulder to lean on, Chris had a way of making even the toughest days a little brighter.
Born with a humorous and adventurous soul, Chris was always up for a new challenge. From his daring attempts at cooking gourmet meals (which sometimes resulted in a few smoke alarms going off,) and perfecting his impressive BBQ skills, to his enthusiastic participation in impromptu dance-offs and his determined effort at numerous attempts to make the Hooters Uniform fit him some how, he never shied away from embracing life's little adventures and finding the fun in any situation.
Chris had an affinity with all things Las Vegas which he shared with his best friend and brother at heart, William “Bill” Rupp.
His love for spontaneity and his ability to find joy in the simplest of moments were truly remarkable.
A culinary enthusiast, a lover of all things delicious, and a true connoisseur of food, Chris brought joy and flavor to the lives of everyone fortunate enough to share a meal with him.
Chris discovered his passion for cooking later on in life. He would spend hours experimenting in the kitchen and behind one of his many grills, creating mouthwatering dishes that would leave us all in awe. His culinary skills were unmatched, and his ability to transform simple ingredients into culinary masterpieces was truly remarkable.
But it wasn't just about the food for Chris. Cooking was his way of expressing love and bringing people together. His kitchen and back deck were places of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable aromas. Whether it was an event gathering, a dinner party, or a casual get-together, Chris would always be found at the heart of it all, whipping up a feast that would leave us all begging for seconds.
His love for food extended beyond his own kitchen and grills. Chris was an avid explorer of flavors, always on the lookout for new recipes, exotic ingredients, and unique dining experiences. He would eagerly share and post to social media his culinary discoveries with friends and family, turning every meal into an adventure.
For Chris, it wasn't only simply about the fancy dishes or delicious BBQ and elaborate recipes, but he also found joy in the simplest of pleasures, like a perfectly cooked rack of ribs or a warm slice of homemade bread. His appreciation for the beauty of food in all its forms was infectious, and it reminded us to savor every bite and find delight in the everyday.
Chris's passion for cooking and grilling was extraordinary and will forever be etched in our hearts and taste buds. His legacy lives on through the recipes he shared with his daughter Kyla, the memories created around the dinner table, and the love he infused into every dish.
Above all else, Chris was a devoted father and his love for his daughter was unwavering. From the moment Chris held his daughter in his arms, his life was forever changed. He embraced the role of a father with open arms, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to the well-being and happiness of his baby girl. His love knew no bounds, and his presence brought both comfort and security to his daughters life.
Chris was not just a provider and protector; he was also a source of endless joy and laughter for Kyla. His playful spirit and infectious laughter filled his home with warmth and happiness. Whether it was playing with dolls, decorating for Halloween, baking cookies, watching movies, building forts, or sharing bedtime stories, Chris cherished every moment spent with his daughter, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Chris did not want funeral services upon his passing, rather he envisioned a great gathering of his very closest friends and loved ones - simply doing what he loved, sharing stories and memories over a plate of the very best BBQ. There will be a Celebration of Life BBQ in honor of Chris in October 2023, date, time and place to be posted to his social media accounts in the coming weeks.
As we say goodbye to our beloved Chris, let us remember him not only for his culinary prowess but also for the love, warmth, and joy he brought into our lives. May his spirit continue to inspire us to embrace the flavors of life, to savor every moment, and to share our love through the simple act of breaking bread together.
