Medical Outreach Project Arusha, Tanzania
Donation protected
Hi everyone ,
We are currently in Arusha, Tanzina with STEP AFRICA volunteering organisation. With our experience from our Nursing studies , we have chosen to volunteer in a medical project in hospitals , St Elizabeth / Mt Meru.
We will also be organising medical outreach clinics, and offering vaccinations in a small village outside of the city called Kilimatinde. We are hoping to try and fundraise some money towards these medical projects. All donations will go directly towards the projects. In particular supplies for a vaccination clinic and medical outreach in Kilmatinde and Arusha.
We will be working alongside and assisting a local doctor, Dr Tumaini , who lives in the village and runs the local health centre . He has advised us on which vaccinations will be most beneficial for this area to reduce the risk of common diseases.
The money raised will help to go towards vaccinations such as PCV (Penumonia), Rotavax (Diarrhoea), Pentavlent (Diptheria), BCG (Tuberculosis) and Measles&Rubela (Polio). People living in these villages have limited access to healthcare services and medications due to living in rural areas with poor transportation into the city hospitals and an overall lack of income and supplies. We aim to also supply and support in wound care and dressings in the local health centre .There is also a need for Erythromycin Syrup + Giving Set ( An antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections ) particularly for children of the village which we hope to be able to supply them with.
We hope we are able to help, support and learn from our time in Arusha, whilst providing care and sharing knowledge in our medical projects.
All donations are greatly appreciated!
Asante sana,
