MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR QUEEN JENNIE TROTTER

Healing for the Healer. Support for the Selfless. Light for the Light Giver. Our family is reaching out on behalf of our wonderful mother, wife, healer, sister, aunt, daughter, community leader, and Qi Gong Master - Jennie C. Trotter. Earlier this year we received the heartbreaking news that she was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer called Acute Myeloid Leukemia. 


We were shocked to hear the news. Until these recent complications our mother never had any health issues. One of the health scares in the past year came as my mother was one of millions of Americans who tested positive for the deadly virus that swept the globe COVID-19.  Although we were able to get her to recover from COVID, her health began to constantly deteriorate even after getting a negative test. There were smaller issues that would usually be remedied with a visit to the doctors office, but instead, they would linger and worsen over time. She went to several specialists and we still could not figure out what the problem was.


And then the dreadful day came, when she had to be admitted into the hospital  based on complete fatigue, loss of appetite and sharp pains in her body.  We have never seen her look this weak in all of her life, so we knew it was serious. Once arriving at the hospital, we were informed that her blood count was extremely low.  After spending nearly a week in the hospital the doctors suspected leukemia and decided that she needed to be transferred to Emory main campus for a bone marrow biopsy. After completing a biopsy we got the answer we needed, but definitely not the answer we wanted to hear. Our mother had  AML Leukemia. 


With that news, we started desperately searching for treatment and experts within the field. We found out that her hometown of Atlanta did not necessarily have the best doctors for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. With the support of a family friend we identified the best Cancer research centers in the country. We were able to get a second opinion and she was accepted into a medical trial at one of the best treatment centers in the United States - MD Anderson Cancer Center. That's the good news. The bad news was that our mother would have to be away from her home and the travel, medical and housing costs would begin to pile up for back and forth trips.


Our mom just completed her first cycle of chemotherapy. She will need ongoing treatment and a bone marrow transplant in order to reach a cure. We are on our way and we humbly ask for you to join us in supporting her healing journey in what every way you can. 


Anyone that has met Jennie  knows that she is one of the most positive, optimistic, community/family  orientated, and loving person you would ever encounter. She dedicated her life to the improvement of our  community through founding and being the Executive Director of The Wholistic Stress Control Institute in Atlanta, GA for over 35 years. Beyond that, she has helped several people, organizations throughout her lifetime. She is the type of person who would never ask for help and is always looking to give help. With that in mind we are asking for help on her behalf.
