Medical Funds Support for Scarlett and Family
Donation protected
We have been fundraising for her family in different capacities ever since her youngest daughter Scarlett, was 1 year old.
On Christmas Day 2022, Scarlett began having seizures out of the blue, during that time she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. She continues to have daily seizures ever since that day. She had also had a stroke during this time.
Jas has been advocating so hard for her daughter during this time. I have never seen someone personally be such a warrior for her and to try to find answers.
Since Jas decided to take an 18 month maternity leave, this left her in a loophole with receiving EI or any additional government financial support, and therfore she only survives by supporting her family with child tax, child support and donations and fundraisers for her family.
In 2023, after much advocating and specialists appointments, they finally started to get some answers for little Miss Scarlett.
She had been diagnosed with Global Development Delays, Epilepsy, and Autism. Although these are difficult diagnosis to hear and overcome, I was able to see Jas take them in stride and continue to work towards getting support, awareness and extra medical attention for Scarlett.
Unfortunately this past week, this families world has come crashing down.
Upon doing some further Metabolics testing, the results came back that no one was expecting.
Scarlett has been diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called BRAT 1, which devastatingly come with a terminal diagnosis. Most children do not live past the age of 10 years old and the majority of children succumb to their end with a seizure (which Scarlett is still having daily).
This has been a traumatic diagnosis and throws this family's future into the unknown. Jas was planning on returning to work this coming fall, but as a mom myself, I know that she can't be away from her daughter as every second with her is absolutely precious and she needs to be there for her.
I would like to raise enough funds to help have medical respite available to help support her and see specialists at the Mayo Clinic in the USA
We are hoping to also have a Pasta Night Buffet Fundraiser for the family on November 6th at the Italian Club in Reginafrom 5-8 pm. We will be having a silent auction.
Adults are $30
