Update 5/8/24: After meeting with the doctor we are more confident in the results we received. We had initially received report that the cancer had spread to her thyroid and her liver and were unsure how “new” the spots were or how it would affect treatment. Her wonderful oncologist explained to us that these spots likely formed early in the chemotherapy or between her last CT scan and when she started treatments. He believes that the treatments are working as most of her other spots that were seen on previous scans have since stabilized and so now she’s on her second series of chemotherapy treatments and will have another scan in about 60 days.
Late Update 5/8/24: Sorry for the long wait between updates but life has been coasting by these last two months. Dad has recovered well from his surgery but he does need another minor operation (outpatient). He will have Vascular surgery to repair a vein in his right leg and I will update after the operation. Mom recently had a CT scan and we are currently waiting on results from the doctor but we should have answers and more information today.
Update 3/18/24: Bittersweet update today: Mom had a follow up with her Oncologist and we did unfortunately receive the news that it is no longer viable to do immunotherapy, however they will continue with chemo as long as it is working and isn’t causing unnecessary damages. So far mom seems to be handling chemo pretty well!
Update 3/12/24: Moms Chemo port is slightly agitated and most likely infected post-op so she is unable to do chemo through her port. In the meantime, her doctors have opted to use an IV method to administer her chemotherapy. This method is unfortunately more painful than the chemo port. However, my mom is a trooper and is pushing through it anyways her next chemo is not until this coming Friday.
Dad is home from his surgery and doing well right now. He is resting most of the time but that is to be expected. He’s very excited to be home and it took a lot of stress off his shoulders once he got home.
Update 3/9/24: Dads surgery went well, he is in the recovery unit now and resting. The surgeon ended up completing 2 total bypass’s and once they were able to see his valve working they decided it does not need replaced at this time as it would cause extra unnecessary strain on my Dads recovery. The good news is they can always go in via Catheter if it ever does need replaced. Dad still has a long road of recovery ahead and will stay in the hospital an estimated minimum of 4 days
Mom also began the long process of chemotherapy treatments yesterday and she is such a trooper. ❤️
Update 3/6/24: Surgery being postponed again. His lungs are not good enough today for the surgery so they are admitting him for a few days of breathing treatments. They are hoping to reschedule for Friday. Mom had her chemo port placed today as well and is recovering from her procedure nicely.
Update 3/4/24: Surgery was postponed to perform more imaging tests including a CT and TEE procedure. Rescheduled for 3/6.
My name is Sarah Norman, and I am reaching out to you during a challenging time that has befallen my family. Both of my parents are currently facing significant health battles, and we are seeking your support to navigate the mounting medical expenses that have accumulated and are anticipated.
Renee Norman's Story:
In November 2020, my mom, Renee Norman, was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a brave fight and achieving remission in July 2021, our joy was short-lived as we received devastating news in January of this year. Mom has been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which has metastasized to her neck, lymph nodes, chest wall, and abdomen, reaching the advanced stage 4. The journey has been incredibly challenging, emotionally and financially.
Sterling Watson's Story:
My dad, Sterling Watson, has also faced health challenges. In 2014, he underwent open-heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. Over the years, he has undergone multiple stent placements, and now, he urgently needs his aortic valve replaced again, along with some stent replacements. The relentless tests and procedures have taken a toll on him, and we are navigating this complex medical journey together as a family.
Our Request for Support:
The burden of medical bills has become overwhelming for us. We anticipate the total debt to range between $20,000 to $30,000, considering the extensive tests and procedures that both my parents have undergone and will continue to face. We are reaching out to our community, friends, and compassionate individuals like you to extend a helping hand during these trying times.
How You Can Help:
Your generous contribution will go directly towards offsetting the exorbitant medical costs that have accumulated. Your support will not only alleviate the financial strain on our family but also provide immense emotional relief during this challenging period. Any amount, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated and will make a significant impact on our journey towards recovery.
Closing Thoughts:
On behalf of my family, I want to express our sincere gratitude for considering our plea for assistance. Your support means the world to us, and we are immensely grateful for the compassion and strength that our community has shown in times of need.
Thank you for being a source of hope and strength for our family.
