Medical Training for Humanitarian Aid Vols at US-MX Border
Donation protected
The Border Worker Wilderness First Responder Program is the collaborative initiative of volunteers from aid organizations at the southern border, including the Ajo Samaritans, Border Angels (San Diego), Borderlands Relief Collective (San Diego), No More Deaths/No Más Muertes (Phoenix), and No More Deaths/No Más Muertes (Tucson).
Our organizations work to uphold fundamental human rights and provide humanitarian aid in the borderlands, where thousands of migrants have died and disappeared while navigating perilous desert terrain in extreme temperatures as a result of the deadly Prevention Through Deterrence policy and border militarization.
We are raising funds to cover costs associated with Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training for thirty humanitarian aid workers taking place in early 2025. We are pursuing the training in order to learn wilderness first aid skills, better preparing us to address medical emergencies that can arise when conducting aid work in the mountainous desert environment at the southern border.
Help us meet our goal!
Course fees for 30 participants amount to roughly $23,000, not including the cost of travel, lodging, and food during the five-day course. Anything you can give helps get us closer to our goal, and alleviates the financial burden on volunteers, many of whom will take time off work to attend the training.
