Little Anakin Needs Help Fighting The Dark Side

**Correction**
The study Anakin is part of is not at the Cleveland Clinic, but at the Nationwide Children’s Clinic in Columbus, OH. This old Auntie heard Ohio, and assumed.
The sweet little boy in this picture is Anakin Millligan. He was born on August 19, 2022. Not long after his birth he started suffering from severe seizures, along with other medical issues. In early December he was flown to Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT where after many days of tests he was diagnosed with Menkes Syndrome, an extremely rare disease where his body doesn’t metabolize copper. Shortly after the diagnosis, Anakin, was accepted into a study at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and he has been given a chance, albeit a very small one. Anakin’s parents work extremely hard however his mother had to leave her job to care for him, make trips from their home in Billings, MT to Cleveland Clinic every two months, and drive to Helena, MT every three months for follow up appointments. Where Anakin’s care and medication through Cleveland Clinic is taken care of, his medical expenses from birth through December, 2022 are in the high six figures. Luckily they had insurance which has covered a huge portion. They are also in need of a newer vehicle that can make the regular 9 hour round trip from their home to Helena, MT. They are reimbursed for travel to Cleveland Clinic up to $1000 per trip which usually puts them a few hundred dollars out of pocket every two months. Anakin, also needs a special car seat that will stabilize his head and neck that insurance will not cover. These car seats range anywhere from $1,500-$3,000. We aren’t asking for the world, or a free ride. Just help for a little man, and his family who are fighting the good fight.
