Help Family Care For And Support Kevin Laughlin

Our family has seen some hard days. We have been hit by cancer on both coasts and my beautiful Kevin has attempted suicide and is in the neurotrauma critical care unit. In March I purchased a ticket from Maine to Oregon to settle Kevin and get him straightened out on his mental health and diabetes needs and to get him a place to live. We learned a family member had cancer and needed some extra help. Needless to say, we've struggled with keeping up with finances. One has a truck is in the shop, I'm living here from across the country, renting a car to get around, having gas expenses & lodging. My son Kevin has had special needs for his mental health disorders and diabetes. Unfortunately he was serving some time in the county jail for missing a court date while he was hospitalized for his diabetes & he forgot to contact his attorney. He was in one of his his lowest bipolar cycles. In a moment of sadness and depression, he attempted to end his life by jumping head first over a rail on the 2nd tier of the jail. Fortunately he is still alive. But he's in the neurotrauma unit of one of our local hospitals. The fall was 25 ft. He broke many bones but the most serious injury is a brain bleed and head trauma. We do not know the extent of the damage to his brain. He is intubated and sedated while they watch the bleed. He has also broken his back in 3 places, 2 in the lumbar spine & 1 at t-10 of spine. They did a couple surgeries to put a screw in the lumbar spine and a couple of rods on his femur. They completed each one but he needed blood transfusions and developed a blood clot in his sinus cavity, which they are carefully trying to break up, but too much blood thinner can affect his brain bleed. The spine breaks are concerning with the brain bleed and a multitude of skull fractures. He also has a broken scapula and multiple fractures of his pelvis. He is in a neck brace and have been keeping him sedated until he could get a back brace. He cannot move more than 30* or he could have spinal damage. As of now these events require that I stay here past the completion of my other family member's treatment. He will obviously need assistance and care for at least the near future. At the moment we are requesting any help you can offer. I am beyond grateful for the help we've received. Anything you can give is appreciated and generous. Thank you.
