Medicare For All billboards
Donation protected
I can’t tell you exactly how many GoFundMe accounts I have donated to in order to help someone pay their medical bills over the last few years, but it’s been way too many.
Greedy insurance companies have been charging premiums unaffordable to many. People have gone without health insurance because they just don’t earn enough to cover the premiums. Those that have been able to afford the premiums can’t afford to go to the doctor because they can’t afford the high deductibles, co-pays, and out of pocket expenses after having to pay the expensive monthly premiums.
THIS is not healthcare. Fortunately, however, we have a presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders, who has written a Medicare For All bill that is an expansion of our current Medicare system.
Other candidates have used the “Medicare For All” phrase to claim that they are on board with this program as a choice in addition to continuing with the same unaffordable private insurance plans. Private insurers will accept the healthiest individuals because they pose the lowest risk to their profits while the sickest, neediest individuals will be on the Medicare system. As soon as a healthy individual is diagnosed with an illness that would become a liability to the private insurer, they will be thrown off that insurance and will be forced to go on Medicare. For this reason, having private insurers competing for the same healthcare market will bankrupt the Medicare system, leaving us with the same inferior system that has been crippling us financially for years.
I have begun a billboard campaign across the state in order to bring attention to Bernie Sanders’ Medicare For All bill. The billboards will run from the beginning of January through the day of the South Carolina primary on February 29th. Your donation is needed to help raise $12,000 to cover the cost of the billboards.
Together we are stronger.
