Medicine for #FosterBabyKeira

Keira came to me with her Mum, Kitty, on 23rd December 2017 for a 6-week foster placement…
Kitty was deaf, arthritic, covered in cysts, hyperthyroid and in very early stages of kidney failure and very gobby. Keira was early stage hyperthyroid and very quiet.
They tolerated each other but they didn’t really hang out or snuggle up together. They liked their own spaces but quite liked eating next to each other.
Kitty crossed rainbow bridge in May 2019 (aged 20) after her back end completely betrayed her. I was with her at the end and she was surrounded by as much love as I could push out into the room.
Keira was very disorientated and distracted for a while as she adjusted to a space without Kitty. She came out of her shell and started having more mad half hours, getting more gobby and nipping my head for smooshes and head butts on a very regular basis.
We fell into a different groove as Keira got used to being the only cat in the village. First breakfast was suddenly being served at 0300 and snacks were being given out much more frequently…I had been taken over so stealthily I hardly even noticed!
Keira is now also deaf, arthritic, has a heart murmur, feline dementia and her hyperthyroidism has stepped up a notch. She turned 20 this September (2021).
This foster placement got out of hand due to a very complex legal case the wee cats were embroiled in and the owners elderly Mum currently covers the cost of litter, food, and basics. I was given permission to rehome and although I had someone in Bristol interested, I couldn’t put Keira through that length of a journey and no one else was prepared to take on such an old lady and all her medical costs.
When Keira was put on Gabapentin for her joint pain I put out a call for help and a lovely lady called Lynn stepped forward to cover those monthly costs.
However, Keira now needs a Solensia injection every month too and I really don’t want to be asking the owners Mum to be paying any more money so, here is my GoFundMe for #FosterBabyKeira.
I have calculated my funding total based on 12 months of all her meds (even though her Gabapentin is currently covered each month) as this covers the GoFundMe costs, puts a bit extra in the pot for V E T fees and just in case things change for the lovely Lynn, we have the Gabapentin covered too.
Thyronorm - £38.64*
Gabapentin - £49.59*
Solensia - £70.01*
*Includes postage costs
At Keira’s next appointment, I will be trained to inject the Solensia so I won’t have to stress her out with a car journey to the V E T each month going forward.
Thanks for reading and expect lots of pictures of the wee beast in the updates.
Lots of love
