Medicine Walls Studio Space

Beloved community,

I pray this message finds you in abundant wellness. I’m reaching out to you to share with you a vision I have held with tremendous love and effort over the last year.

Many of you have known me over the years as a community artist, a teaching artist, a movement artist and trainer for visual strategies for the frontlines. You know my talents have always been activated in the sincerest service to my community. I have offered my creativity to countless non-profits, campaigns and initiatives toward community wellness and social justice for most of my career.

Finally I have created a home for my own practice with MEDICINE WALLS and with it a physical studio space
(The Dojo) that I can lend to others to do their best creative work.
The manifestation of a versatile creative space that serves and centers BIPOC artists has been a dream held for as long as I can remember. I feel uniquely positioned and blessed to be able to steward this place and this experience at this time.

The funds raised will secure the rent for the studio for 2022 and help us purchase a vehicle to support in the transportation of supplies for projects and support local mutual aid efforts when needed.
It will allow us to offer sliding scale and free creative space and support to Black and Brown Artists in a gentrified and unaffordable city. It will support artists working on rapid response art for local organizing, and an intergenerational space for folks to gather and heal from all that life is throwing us right now. It will give us the breathing room to develop our funding strategies for the following year and the support to maintain the space ongoing.

If we are blessed to surpass our goal, that extra love will be used to support in house initiatives such as art therapy circles and plant medicine themed public art projects and to pay our support team.

I can’t tell you how much having this space over the last year has benefited us. The Medicine is all over the Walls and with every beautiful soul that has activated the space with deep love, social justice and heart healing. Any support you can offer and sharing of this journey is beyond appreciated. We invite you to explore more of our story on the Medicinewalls.nyc official website and to stay in touch !
