Mediterranean Deli Chapel Hill Employee Relief

Donation protected

Hello Everyone,

If you’ve walked down Franklin Street you’ve probably walked past the Mediterranean Deli, Bakery, and Catering (aka “Med Deli”). It’s been a staple of our community since 1991. when the restaurant first opened. Jamil Kadoura created a restaurant that not only delivers amazing, fresh food for the community, but also forged the deli into a community staple by encouraging acceptance and compassion. An example of this compassion is the misting fans that blow onto Franklin Street on hot days.

On Saturday, July 22nd, the Mediterranean Deli caught fire. As of 5:06PM, there have been at least 5 different local fire departments on scene attempting to control the blaze. Witnesses who were near the deli have described a heart-breaking scene. The consensus is that Med Deli is a total loss.

It’s hard to accept what’s happened to such an institution in the Chapel Hill community, so this campaign is being established to provide support for the employees of Med Deli. Dozens of our local community members were employed by Med Deli and will need our support to get through this challenging time. 100% of funds raised will go to these employees.
