Meese Family Medical Fund

My name is Allison Meyer, and I'm fundraising for The Meese family's medical expenses as Maegan begins her road to recovery from a very serious and unexpected battle with sepsis.

This past Friday as Maegan was driving her daughter, Addie, to a regional gymnastics competition in Akron, she had a sudden onset of extreme pain and nausea, her hands and feet went numb, she became light-headed and feverish, and her daughter told her that her lips were turning blue. She was able to make it to the hotel safely and contacted her daughter's gymnastics coaches to come pick up her daughter. Her symptoms worsened once they left and she began vomiting uncontrollably. She made it over to the hotel phone and requested an ambulance, and once it arrived her vitals were in terrible shape. Her BP was 70/45, heart rate was 120, and she had a 103.1° fever. She was sent to the ER where they believed she had a serious infection with an abscess causing sepsis as well. She was transported downtown to Cleveland Clinic where they determined she needed immediate surgery to drain the abscess. It was confirmed that she does have sepsis (which is an infection of the blood), and an additional surgery will be needed to remove the abscess. After blood work came back with bacterial growth and an increase in her white blood cell count, the infectious disease doctor has informed her she'll be staying until at least next Monday in order to gain control of the infection. She is going to require a PICC line be placed so that once she is released home she can be administered IV antibiotics for a minimum of 10 days.

To say this has been scary and overwhelming for the Meese family is quite an understatement, and I don't want them to feel the weight of any additional stress regarding the medical bills they're incurring while trying to get the matriarch of their family healthy again. Not to mention they're currently stuck in Cleveland, 4 hours away from home, and are unsure of how long they'll be staying there. Please consider donating any amount, as it will all be incredibly helpful to them as they navigate this very unexpected medical emergency.

If you know Maegan at all, you know she would be the VERY first person offering help should any of her friends or family ever need it. She is truly the most selfless person I know, and wouldn't hesitate to give for any one. Let's shower her with the love and support she's forever giving us, and payback all that she's put out. ♡
