Meet Lindsey VanRoon

Donation protected
Lindsey is a 36 year old mother of two amazing young daughters, her life has been one of many hard lessons, challenges and also joy with raising her daughters that has shaped her into the strong and determined woman she is today however, she will need more than this strength and determination to get her through the next chapter of her story.

In May on Mothers Day 2024 Lindsey went into the hospital complaining of shortness of breath and periods of losing consciousness. 5 days later she had open heart surgery to remove a tumor. The diagnosis was Cardiac Intimal Sarcoma, one of the rarest forms of cancer. Her Doctors told her that she was the 76th person on record globally of getting this form of cancer.

The rarity of this cancer has attracted the attention of Doctors around the world because there is very little known about it and therefore very little research on it.

At the completion of the open heart surgery Lindsey was advised that the prognosis of surviving this cancer was not good but she could be a candidate for a heart transplant as long as the cancer had not spread to other parts of her body, sadly only a few weeks later and after many, many tests, cancer was found to be spreading quickly to other parts of her body. Not to be discouraged, she openly stated that she was going to fight this cancer and be the first one to beat it. Deep down she was still coming to terms with the magnitude of her situation and trying to understand "why me"

She knew she would have to act quickly and started putting her affairs in order and set 5 major goals in case something happened to her.

Lindsey's Goals:
1) Keep the girls together and with family
2) Raise money to secure their future, education and provide financial support for the family who will be entrusted to raise them
3) Set things straight and clear her soul for God
4) Raise money for research into Cardiac Intimal Sarcoma
5) Donate her body to help the research into Cardiac Intimal Sarcoma
