Meet my friend Mary. She needs your help!

Meet my friend Mary Underwood. She needs your help. Her septic tank for her home has collapsed and the cost to do the minimal repair is $4700. At this point, she is not able to use any plumbing in her house until it’s fixed. Staying with friends is not an option because Mary has two dogs and a cat that do not travel well, and she cannot leave them behind.

She and her husband EJ have been residents of the Magnolia/Montgomery area since 1976. EJ her husband of 52 years passed away in 2015, so she has been on her own ever since. She lives on a minimal fixed income and making it through the month every month is a challenge.

Mary does not have any children, however, has many friends in her community and her church. Mary also is a member of her local Red Hat Society.

She has rheumatoid arthritis and was diagnosed when she was young.She has lived a lifetime with this disease. She has recently been diagnosed with asthma and is being treated with infusions monthly to be able to walk and function with less pain. Both diseases make it hard for her to get around and do everyday chores.

Medications for her conditions become quite costly, and this makes things challenging on her limited fixed income.

Despite everything, Mary is a kind and wonderful person and friend to everyone she meets.
