Meet the Lost Boys: Theater for Queer Survival and Growth
Donation protected
Meet the Lost Boys is a devising-based theater process for queer and trans artists in Chicago that teaches us about ritual-based community building in the topsy-turvy world of Neverland. Choreographer Keli Gunn and Director/Playwright Lizzy May are collaborating to facilitate this process.
In today’s world, marked by climate change, political regression, and toxic masculinity, we turn to the Lost Boys of Peter Pan for inspiration. They build their genderfluid society through imagination and shared rituals in the face of uncertainty. They design a strong community through play, curiosity, and mutual aid. They offer us critical lessons for our time and our city. In a post-pandemic world, where connection is needed more than ever, this project will use The Lost Boys as guides to explore queer kinship, self-reinvention, and collective survival.
Funding this project will pay for actors/movers, musicians, and rental space in Chicago.
