Meg at LIV Village

Hi, I'm Meg and I'm raising money towards funding a year's voluntary work in Durban, South Africa, at LIV Village*.

I have been visiting the village on short-term voluntary placements for 7 years and finally feel now is the time to join them for an extended period. If we have spoken in the last 7 years, I have almost definitely mentioned this place and these people. (I can only apologise...) It's been a privilege to get to know the staff, volunteers and, particularly, the children over the years. The thought that there is a possibility that I could be with them and cheer them on as they grow in real time, rather than get a shock every few years at how tall some of them are, is so exciting. I would love it if you would consider partnering with me and coming along for the ride!

Money raised will go towards my cost of living for 12 months. I will be living on site and getting stuck in with village life, supporting the village in any way I can. Areas I have helped with previously include: children's church provision, assemblies, after-school programmes, engaging children in the creative arts, plays, events, and generally using fancy dress, silly voices and puppets to make children giggle. I also look forward to new opportunities to come alongside and champion the foster mums, children and young people - and make them giggle.

I fully appreciate that lots of us are concerned about money in this current climate. Please give what you can - every little helps! And if you don't want to give but you would like to pray for me or be kept informed on what I'm up to, let me know! I'll be sending out a newsletter as regularly as Wifi and my own timekeeping will allow. (Hopefully bi-monthly.)

I believe God has put somewhere deep inside me the desire to see children and young people thrive. This is where my heart and the vision of LIV Village come together so beautifully (almost as if by design!) as LIV exists to rescue, restore, raise up and release leaders for the sake of South Africa and the world. It’s a big vision. We know a bigger God who finishes what He starts. I am excited to see what He is going to do with my bread and fish as I lay it all down and say ‘Your will be done.’

LIV is a purpose-built village that aims to rescue, restore, raise and release stars by providing residential foster care for vulnerable and orphaned children. Children are placed in a family home within a supportive community where all their needs are met in a holistic approach to physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
