After talking with my friend Megan I realized the need her family will have financially in the coming months. The events that have transpired in the past 5 days are so big the family is still in shock and does not know what to expect. I talked with her and asked her permission to write the following to begin a medical fundraising campaign on her behalf.

Megan's story.
Less than a week ago our friend Megan went for a routine appointment to have her contact prescription updated and after several appointment and referrals to doctors she was diagnosed with cancer behind her eye.
At this point her treatment has not been determined, there are many more appointments and tests that need to be completed. What Megan and her family does know is that the cancer center is located in Philadelphia. Megan and her husband will need to travel there next week, they do not know how long they will need to stay or if Megan will have surgery that Thursday (August 9th).
Megan and her husband run a family business (Ferra's Furniture Service). When they do not work they do not get paid. Megan's unexpected cancer diagnosis is going to be a financial hardship.
Megan is the mother of 4 beautiful children, not all of them school age. Megan works from home and all 4 kids are home with her during the summer. Megan's cancer diagnosis means this is going to be a very tough August. Megan and her husband need to find care for their kids, currently family is helping out.
The goal is to:
1. Help off set the cost of travel to Philadelphia (hotel, food, gas, help with medical expenses, etc). At this point it appears that this trip will either happen multiple times or be for an extended period of time
2. Help pay the bills for Jim and Megan while they are not working
3. Help pay for any daycare/babysitters that are used so Megan can focus on getting healthy.
