Support Brain Surgery for a Brighter Future
Donation protected
I grew up in Vermont, an active kid playing all kinds of sports; hiking, biking, soccer, softball, swimming—you name it, I was doing it. I went to college for Outdoor Education as well as Culinary Arts and have worked all over the country as well as Europe.
I was diagnosed with Tonic Clonic Epilepsy in 2017 as a result of sports concussions. My life has changed drastically, having several seizures a day, not understanding what is going on, and it taking a toll on me physically and emotionally. I am here asking for support as I’ve been unable to work for two years and will be unable to do so for the unforeseen future, as well as for the cost of brain surgery.
My drive and passion grow each day, but my abilities are limited by the seizures becoming stronger and more frequent.
With the wonderful neurology department at Dartmouth Medical Center, through surgery, they were able to identify the parts of my brain that cause my seizures. I am in research mode, gathering more information to develop a plan on what parts of my brain I'm comfortable having removed. This all takes time: the research, the surgery, the recovery, and working towards the life I want.
While I am in a tough place, my drive and passion are also working towards the cure of my epilepsy. Having the support of those around me, close friends and family, and those I haven't met who are reading my story, brings hope that I can reach my goal. I can then share this with those who are struggling, through my desired career as a wilderness therapist, letting people know we are all here to help one another.
