Megan's Breast Cancer Journey
Donation protected
My name is Natalie. I want to start by thanking anyone who has taken the time to read this, has donated, or even just shared. Megan and I met through our best friend Racheal. I am thankful every day to have met Megan and to have her in my life. Megan is nothing short of amazing. Words do not actually explain how amazing she is as a person and how giving she is. As many know, Racheal passed unexpectedly on May 21, 2021. This last year has been unexplainably hard and painful with learning how to live without Racheal. I know personally, I would not have made it this far in the last year without Megan. She is truly a blessing. Megan is a giver and will help anyone she can. With this said, below is an unfortunate turn of events, and I ask for any help anyone is able to give for Megan. There are more details in Megan’s blog under her linktree (https://linktr.ee/megmadore?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=573430f8-723c-4adb-b7e3-35daed8eeab0) We will update as often as able.
Story: On Monday, June 13th Megan was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer, pre-invasive ductal carcinoma in situ and invasive mammary carcinoma. Megan’s cancer is triple-negative which means that the cancer cells do not have any hormone receptors making her cancer rarer (only about 5-10% of cases), aggressive, and harder to treat. Megan’s cells are replicating at a higher rate than normal. Normally cancer cells replicate at 20% however, Megan’s is at 80%. Megan is going to need 2 rounds of intense chemo and immunotherapy over the next 5 months. Along with surgeries and radiation. This means at least 8-12 months out of work fighting for her life. Megan is making the best out of this situation as she can. However, as I would expect, she is emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained. This diagnosis comes a little over a month after the 1 year death anniversary of one of the strongest, most beautiful people Megan and I have ever been able to meet, Racheal. If the last year has not been hard enough now, Megan needs to wonder how she will pay her bills and feed her animals.
If all you can do is share her story, please do. If you have a resource, please share. The last thing I want is Megan to wonder how she is going to pay for bills such as mortgage, vehicle, electricity, and take care of her animals while fighting for her life. I am thankful she has Tyler as her everyday rock however, I want to take as much burden off both of them during this trying time.
