Megan's Mission for Survival

My name is Kelly Quilliam and I am Megan Montoya's sister by marriage (Kyle, her husband, is my brother). I am writing this to share Megan's story. On Thursday, February 22nd, Megan suffered a hemorrhagic stroke (a vessel rupture or tear causing bleeding in the brain) located in the back, lower part of her brain. This is an incredibly critical area of the brain for survival. Megan will need around the clock monitoring for weeks in the ICU, frequent imaging (MRI, CT, interventional imaging) and she may need brain surgery depending on her progress. We are praying hard for her recovery. Her path to healing will be a lengthy and strenuous marathon of physical therapies, speech therapy and inpatient rehabilitative treatment. Megan will require around the clock care when she returns home. This will greatly transform her family's life, increasing the need of childcare, homecare, her husband's time away from work, etc.

Megan is a beloved wife, sister, daughter, friend and most importantly, a compassionate mother to their 3 year old daughter, Rylee. She is not only a remarkable woman, a 04 Major Commander for the US Army, Megan is an incredibly kind person with a beautiful soul. She holds a significant place in the hearts of everyone around her.
