Meggie Bresee Freestone

My name is Kathryn Lindsay Bresee and I am fundraising on behalf of Meggie Bresee Freestone, my sister-in-law and best friend. Earlier this year, Meggie was diagnosed with a very rare liver cancer called hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEHE). The only cure for her cancer is a liver transplant from a deceased donor or a living donor.

For those who have not met Meggie, let me tell you some of the many wonderful things about her. She has an incredibly thoughtful, caring heart and an infectious, bubbly personality. I met Meggie several years ago through horseback riding, where we became instant friends. Meggie is a first-grade teacher, currently in her fifth year. She stays very active in her free time and enjoys many shared hobbies with her husband, Chris. They have traveled up and down the west coast, all the way to Canada, to rock climb and often enjoy weekend trips to Joshua Tree and other local spots. Things had finally fallen into place in life for her and Chris when they received this diagnosis. Chris is also a teacher and will be the sole provider during her recovery. This fundraiser aims to help offset medical costs and missed wages during her 3–6-month post-transplant recovery. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, we are asking people to consider becoming a living liver donor for Meggie. Donors do not pay for any medical expenses and are reimbursed for travel costs and lost wages (up to a certain dollar amount).
