Meghan Powers Memorial Scholarship

Meghan Powers passed away on January 13, 2020, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Meghan was committed to education and was in the process of pursuing a doctorate in education at the time of her death.

The Meghan Powers Memorial Scholarship will be awarded each year to a graduating student in Northeast Iowa who exemplifies Meghan's spirit as well as her love of learning. The student should have a sense of humor, a strong inclination for caring about others, a genuine love of learning, and diligence to overcome adversity. Preference will be given to first-generation college students who show interest in Meghan's chosen fields of psychology and education.

Because Meghan's educational path was non-traditional, there are no GPA requirements. The memorial scholarship recognizes that there are multiple paths to pursuing higher education, and that students with a variety of high school performances can have great future academic promise.
