Meghan Skidmore

Hi! My name is Michelle, and Meghan is one of my dearest friends! Some of you already know that Meghan has recently been diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer. And if this were not bad enough, she has even more recently discovered that her insurance does not cover chemotherapy or radiation, both of which she needs to fight this battle. Meghan hopes to start treatment in the next week or 2 but needs funds to begin the treatment. Thankfully, the radiologist and oncologist are willing to give substantial cash discounts; however, the discounted rates are still quite large....thousands of dollars. She will also need a hospital procedure not covered by her insurance, but we do not know yet the degree to which that will be discounted without insurance. Our goal here is $50,000, which would cover half of the radiology bill, part of the chemo bill and HOPEFULLY part of the hospital bill. Meghan plans to work through the 6-7 weeks of treatment, but friends like me are not optimistic that she will be able to continue working past week 3 of treatment. Therefore, some of the funds may also be used for rent/utilities.

If you are reading this story, and do not know Meghan, let me tell you a little about her. Meghan is hardworking, intelligent, dedicated, loyal, compassionate, funny, fun, kind, witty, humble, and reasonable. She is active in her church, loves people, loves God, and is always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Asking for help is the opposite of who and what Meghan is, but when cancer knocks at your door, sometimes you are faced with needing assistance from others, and that's where she is today. And by the way, SHE is not asking for help...her friends and family are asking on her behalf (and with her reluctant but resolved permission.)
