Mehenka Isadora Ternier, Fille bien-aimée (Beloved Daughter)

This is a call to all the Haitian Religious Communities as well as anyone else who has compassion for the situation to be described below.

On May 2nd 2024,

Mehenka Isadora Ternier, age 16, was taken into surgery for a supposed abdominal issue diagnosed by doctors at a clinic in Santo Domingo.

That day she had complained about some abdominal pain and went into the clinic. After a while the pain subsided but the doctors still insisted that she should have the emergency surgery.

She called her mother and they had a nice conversation. The mother, Marie Gaetchen Joseph prayed for her daughter and told her all would be well.

At the end of the call her daughter said to her, "Alright mom, we'll talk later".

After less than thirty minutes in surgery Mehenka Isadora Ternier was

pronounced dead.

The autopsy report showed that there was no actual abdominal issue present and that Mehenka was misdiagnosed by the doctors.

In the end the surgery was unnecessary.

She died from a heart attack caused by an adverse reaction to the anesthesia.

This is Mehenka.

Her mother describes her as a humble daughter who stood by her mothers side, always offering her words of comfort.

Mehenka would say, "Mom, you're beautiful", "Mom, are you alright?", "Mom, did you eat?", "Mom, I'm praying for you."

She was humble and comprehensive. Respectful of everybody. Always happy.

She was happiest when some one compared her to her mother because she loved her mother. She was a joyful person and she loved to give to everyone. Everybody loved her.

Mehenka's mother, Marie Gaecthen Jospeh is a widowed refugee from Chile, and she is unable to go to Santa Domingo because of this. She doesn't have the financial means and the bills to fund this funeral are already piling up on top of her. The funeral is scheduled for May 18th 2024.

Marie Gaecthen Joseph is a member of Ebenezer Nazarene Church of RI and this situation can be verified by the leadership of the church.

The loss of this beloved daughter at the tender age of 16 is a shocking loss to our community. Your compassion during this time is so precious.
