Meidrim - Power Cut and Emergency Generator Fund
Donation protected
My name is Matthew and I'm setting up this crowdfund on behalf of the collective of Meidrim parish, Carmarthenshire.
Due to a severe weather event, we recently experienced a prolonged power cut that left the entire parish, including many vulnerable and elderly people without power for days. The entire situation highlighted the fragile nature of our infrastructure and the lack of any contingency plans. After a community initiative, we discovered elderly people living alone in hardship, who had run out of food, logs and supplies, some of whom were spending the time in bed because they were so cold.
Please donate to raise funds to purchase and install a high powered generator for the chapel vestry. In any future incidents of a similar nature, this can be powered up to provide a warm space, hot water and food, charging points and a place for people who are cut off to communicate, receive news and for organising any further initiatives to assist those most vulnerable in our community.
Any additional leftover funds after the purchase of the generator will cover the cost of any adaptions to wiring at the chapel vestry (hall), generator fuel and the purchase of essential supplies, such as hot water urns, cooking equipment, food in the event of any future incidents etc.
