Radlett Mum of four young children Melissa Crampton gets devastating news that rocks the lives of her lovely young family and husband Joe. Mel and Joe have four young children Jorja 13, Kai 11, Brooke 8 and Cady 6.
Mel has been diagnosed with secondary cancer which has spread to her spine and liver. Despite her previous encounter with breast cancer, this inspirational mum has vowed to fight this battle as she has the previous ones.
Mel is no stranger to battles. She is a strong inspirational lady who takes everything in her stride. Despite everything she has been through. Mel is always upbeat and no one could ever know the depth of her personal struggles.
When Mel was first diagnosed with Breast cancer in April 2014. Mel underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and then a double mastectomy followed by multiple reconstructive surgeries. Mel was operated on eleven times. She had both ovaries removed as a precaution.
Mel also has Lymphedema. Unfortunately for Mel the cancer spread to the lymph nodes. So her only option was to have them removed. Fluid that is usually processed through the lymph nodes cannot easily be absorbed. This results in fluid being absorbed into the tissue causing swelling and restricted movements, not to mention the pain.
We cannot begin to comprehend the practical and financial pressures this lovely family are currently having to deal with. Joe cannot work as he has become the children’s primary carer while Mel is in hospital. When Mel returns home ( once all the adaptations are complete to enable Mel to return home safely). Joe will be Mel’s full time carer.
We know many local people, friends and family have been offering their help and support and the family are immensely grateful for this.
However, the financial pressures at this time are insurmountable and are putting additional strain on the already heartbreaking and difficult position. I am sure this would be the case for any young family faced with the same catastrophic situation.
We wanted to do something to help our friends/neighbours. Therefore we have set up the go fund me page and are requesting donations to help support the family financially at this time.
Mel is currently in Hospital in rehabilitation, to help her get mobile again. This will inevitably take some time.
In the meantime we would be most grateful for any donations to help the family with day to day living expenses, treatment and ongoing support which Mel may well need.
All funds raised will go directly to the family. Please give generously.
Thank-you from the bottom of our hearts. Please do spread this post to we can get as much support as possible for this family.
