In Memory Of Mel Wheeler

My name is Lauren and i am a Staff Nurse on Ward 16 Stroke Unit in DRI. This post is written on behalf of all the staff on the ward. As some of you may know Mel passed away, at the young age of 53, unexpectedly after a short battle on the Neuro Critical Care Unit in Sheffield on the 26th July 2024. Mel worked for over 20 years as a Hca within the NHS and during this time made many friends. Mel leaves behind 2 teenage children, her parents, brother and partner who are all trying to come to terms with her loss. Mels funeral is on the 19th August at Barnby Dunn Crematorium at 12 midday followed by a wake in Rossington Club.

We are trying to help raise funds for the funeral for the children/family to ease some the pressure during this very sad time. Any funds raised will be given to her parents and if the money raised exceeds the amount needed Mels parents will use it to help the children. They lost their dad at earlier this year so to lose both parents in the same year is devastating for them.
