Good Day To All,

I am Braylin McCray, a 24 year old and rising film producer. I need your help getting my production company started. My  company is known as Melabasis Studios. TBH: To Be Hired

Mission Statement – We are committed the developing and offering people, the most innovative and beautiful masterpieces in Black cinema.

Competitive Environment - The film industry has given token opportunity to Black filmmakers.  Blacks are underrepresented in American cinema. Some Black filmmakers never get the opportunities to tell stories the way they want to the major audiences and if they do their stories are leased on a small amount of theatre screens or forcefully homogenized by Hollywood executives. Small screen play and homogenization keeps the Black filmmakers from showing their true box office potential. As an independent black film production company Melabasis, given enough time, will be formidable competition to the studio likes of Warner Brothers, Universal, MGM, 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, Sony, Paramount and Lionsgate. Melabasis will bring innovative variety to American cinema and be the start of a new masterpiece collection in Black cinema.

Business Model - Melabasis Studios will generate its revenue from theatre audiences and home video profits. We will have our own film and video equipment; along with our DVD and Blu-ray manufacturing and replication equipment. We will develop films and home video discs independently through our funds.  With the appropriate funding Melabasis will DVD and Blu-ray replication machines to be used in their South Carolina facility. Melabasis will not outsource there services overseas and keeping all arenas of the business in the United States.

Services - Melabasis’ business pursuits are focused on developing original theatrical pictures. This company will work with Black screenwriters and directors of all career levels in getting their projects created; Melabasis will partner with other production companies and/or film studios in business; this company will manufacture and replicate DVDs and Blu-rays for home video use.

Product - Through private funding from investors Melabasis will produce films and lease them to movie theaters for viewing; thus Melabasis will have DVDs and Blu-rays manufactured for customer’s home entertainment. Melabasis Studio will negotiate with screenwriters in regards to production.  (We are in negotiations as of right now!)

Marketing - Melabasis will have digital/print advertisings and promotional campaign on the Internet and national television for our film projects. They will hire graphic and web designers to help promote their projects to the public. These designers will complete projects that will garner public attention towards the films and home video products.

Financial Projection - Melabasis Studios will need $3 million for start-up costs. Then the company will make $10 million or higher in its first year from profits in theatrical releases alone.

There you have it. Help me in bringing innovation to a Black cinema and impacting the film industry. Melabasis would help Black America have its own film economy independent of other studios input and control.

Thank You,
Braylin McCray
