Melanated Female Education Journey into Medicine
Donation protected
Chloe Pinkney does not fit the paradigm of a thirteen-year-old African American female. Chloe has an introvertive personality but accepts challenges with alacrity. She is a 9th-grader at The University School of the Lowcountry. She entered high school with 3 high school credits. She has always had a love for caring for others. Chloe became CPR/First Aid/AED certified at the age of eleven. She aspires to become a general surgeon. USL has given her the perfect atmosphere and opportunities to prepare her to fulfill her dream of becoming a surgeon. She participated in the South Carolina Independent School Association Middle School Math Meet (Oct. 2019) and her group placed third. Chloe has been selected to represent USL at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care at John Hopkins University in the Summer of 2021. By attending this ten-day program, she will have the opportunity to diagnose and treat illnesses in true-to-life medical scenarios; perform medical procedures through true-to-life virtual reality simulations; receive two college credits through George Mason University; a campus environment to help prepare her for college; and so much more. Tuition for the program is $4344. The cost of airfare is roughly $300. Airport shuttle is $80. Chloe is elated to be selected for such a fun and engaging opportunity. Any donation, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated. Any money received that exceeds the amount needed to attend the NYLF program will be sent to University School to assist with her tuition. Thank you in advance for your time and support. Here is a video from Chloé’s 8th grade graduation speech.
