Melanie Brewer Family Support

Melanie discovered a mole on her leg in 2019 which was diagnosed as melanoma. It was removed, as well as a lymph node, and the PET scan came back clear. She started immunotherapy just in case. Several months later she had another clear scan, and immunotherapy was stopped. 

In Sept. of 2020, Melanie bent down to pick something up off the floor and her hip crumbled under her. During the hip replacement surgery a biopsy was taken and the melanoma was back and had spread to her bones and throughout her body. 

In Dec. 2020, she began to experience headaches and other neurological symptoms. On Dec. 19th it was confirmed that the cancer had crossed the blood-brain barrier and entered her spinal fluid. 

On Christmas Eve Melanie had a massive seizure and began a rapid decline. On Jan. 5, 2021 she entered Hospice to manage her pain.
