Melbourne Chinese Lunar New Year Dragon Festival!

We are the Melbourne Chinatown Association, a not-for-profit organisation setup in May 2022 aiming to promote social cohesion and celebrate the cultural vibrancy with our diverse communities, whilst maintaining Australian values and interests.

We are proud to represent the Chinese and Asian communities in Melbourne and be able to bring the joyous celebration to the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown for the second year in a row - proudly supported by the City of Melbourne and State Government of Victoria, as promoted on What's On Melbourne, and in partnership with the Federation of Chinese Associations (Vic).

Chinese Lunar New Year is a globally celebrated festival and of utmost significance for the community, family and friends to come together, whilst sharing our culture to contribute to the vibrant multicultural city that is Melbourne. As volunteers, we are organising this event for the local Asian diaspora to enjoy and celebrate their rich cultural heritage.

Over the last year, there have been substantial event, logistics, and compliance cost increases. Major events are costly, and we would like to seek community support to deliver this event for everyone to enjoy.

The funds will be used towards: Traffic Management, Event Security, Venue Hire, External Events and Operations Management, Risk Management, Waste Management, and Public Amenity Hire - all of which are compliance obligations at the determination of the local city council. In return, we will be able to provide the following (Terms and Conditions apply):

1. Feature your name/company on the Chinese Lunar New Year Dragon Festival website for formal recognition of your support.

2. For each increment of $50 provided, you will receive one entry to our Year of the Dragon lucky draw to win 2 x VIP tickets to Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour in 2024 at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne. Furthermore, you will receive complimentary membership to the Melbourne Chinatown Association for FY2025.

3. Anyone providing more than $500 in support will receive a complimentary invite to our exclusive VIP Event held after the conclusion of the Chinese Lunar New Year Dragon Festival.
