Melbourne Filipino Students Hardship Appeal
Donation protected
We are The Entree.Pinays , a female-led, Filipino food and cultural advocacy group based in Melbourne, championing Filipino cuisine, culture and community. Community and food is at the heart of what we do.
As we inch closer to the hopeful end of Stage 4 lockdowns in Victoria, we know that certain members of our community will be continue to be more vulnerable than others and we invite your support.
This fundraiser is in partnership with Boba Bar Melbourne and is dedicated to specifically help vulnerable international Filipino students based in Melbourne CBD cope with the COVID-19 crisis. Many have lost their hospitality jobs, they don't have a family network to support them, nor qualify to benefit from Australian government subsidies. These students have been receiving in-kind support from voluntary community organisation Migrante Melbourne through their joint program with Anakbayan Melbourne and PINAS - Damayang Migrante.
Since the start of our fundraising campaign, approximately $8400 worth of grocery vouchers have been issued to students in need. This affords them access to food essentials, such as rice, canned goods, pasta, and life-long products to bring the students some food security at time when their lives and livelihoods have been interrupted by Corona. But these students need your continued support, which is why we have increased our fundraising goal to $10,000 (as of September).
Let's bring the Filipino bayanihan spirit to life by taking action. On behalf of our BARRIO, for our Filipino international students, we thank you for your continued generosity.
