Melodifestivalen 2021

Our friends at the Swedish Church  have always welcomed us for Melodifestivalen with open arms, particularly since the closure of The Harcourt  a few years ago. None of us need reminding that 2021 is the first year in a very long time that the Swedish Church will have to keep its doors closed, not just for Melfest, but for all the support and services they provide to their community.

As a result, the Church won't receive any of the cash that we'd normally spend on Kopparberg, dill chips and chocolate at the bar, or any of the contributions from the charity collections at the end of each evening.

So I thought it would be lovely if we could all make a donation to show our appreciation and gratitude for everything the Church has done for us in the past – perhaps even the amount of money you would have spent at the bar this year.  Just as the past 12 months have been tough for all of us, the Church has had to take some hard decisions to keep its work going and is currently having to operate with a reduced team, so anything we could do to help would be hugely appreciated, I'm sure.

It would be really nice to make a little gesture of friendship and show the Swedish Church that we haven't forgotten them, even if we can't be there in person this year.

This GoFundMe page is set up with the Swedish Church's details, so the cash goes straight to them. You can also use Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer so the donation is increased. GoFundMe does charge a small fee, however, so ping me a message if you want the details of the fee-free option.

Just to be clear, this isn't an official appeal or anything like that – no one from the Swedish Church is involved.
