Melina's Memorial and Cremation Services

Help celebrate the life and work Melina Rayna Barrett, outspoken trans woman activist and Legislative Director at Florida National Organization for Women, by donating to help her family pay for her memorial service and cremation. 

Melina is currently in hospice and nearing the end of her long battle with cancer.  Melina is well known for her feminist work battling for the equity and rights of women and LGBTQIA+ equity in Florida's Capitol, throughout the state, and around the nation.  She is the first transgender woman candidate to run for election as a legislator in the Florida Senate and, even in ill health, she fought bitterly to stop the bitter discrimination against transgender and gender non-conforming people.

Help support her work and her family by donating now.  Florida NOW is also taking statements and videos to be read to her or played for her before she crosses over and to be used at the memorial service. If you are willing to write a  statement or record a video please reach out to Lakey Love at through GoFundMe or FB as soon as possible (time is limited as hospice has said she could go at any moment) and we will do our best to make sure that your message gets to her before she crosses over.

Any funds left over will be donated to a charity of Melina's choosing.
