Melise Efferson’s Rare Cancer Support

In July 2023, 3 year old Melise Efferson received a life altering rare cancer diagnosis. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer from a Sacrococcygeal Yolk Sac Tumor, with several cancer nodules on her lungs and a cancerous lesion on her liver. Her family has encountered many complications and challenges associated with the life saving treatment that is necessary for Melise to fight this disease. Melise has completed 4 rounds of intravenous chemotherapy, each consisting of 6+ days of in-patient hospital stays. Her chemo treatment has allowed her care team to begin consulting with the top surgical pediatric cancer experts in the nation. At this time they are preparing for Melise to undergo tumor removal surgery in Boston, MA. This will require a minimum of 3 weeks away from home and will incur tremendous emotional stress and financial burden. In the most crucial moments of their life, it is profoundly important to ease the family’s concerns and provide support to allow their focus to remain on Melise’s medical needs.
