Update from Melissa:
It’s been a week…
I want to thank everyone for all the love and support for my family. This has been the hardest thing we have had to deal with, we are doing ok because of all the love and support from our community, our cheer family, and our friends and family.
Never in my life had I ever imagined something like this happening, and those who know me… really know me, know the trials and tribulations I faced. This has been more challenging than those things combined. Watching everything we love, worked so hard for, created and made our own just burn away was not only heartbreaking, but traumatic. Fire doesn’t discriminate on what it burns, it takes EVERYTHING. From my childhood VHS tapes, to my dogs ashes.. to my husbands trophy’s everything runs through my mind at different parts of the day.
But without all the love and support from everyone around us I just don’t know how we would be able to do anything.. even just the texts, telling me it will be ok, we will rise from the ashes.. makes me think, it will be ok, we will rise.
This easily could’ve been a fatal fire, but it wasn’t, Faith was quick thinking and got herself, Maggie and Alice to safety. Despite us losing everything and possible our kitty Bonnie I have to continue to tell myself this may have saved someone in the future, please talk to your kids and family about fire safety, what to do in a fire and when in a panic. Practice fire drills. We did that and I am BEYOND grateful I did. We had fire safety ladders on each side of the house, just in case. We knew those stairs could trap us up there, and if it was in the middle of that night that very well could’ve happened.
Thank you again to everyone for the kind words, donations and motivation to keep going. We will rebuild, we will rise.
July 23, 2022 Melissa and Matt received the one phone call nobody ever wants, their forever home was on the fire. Upon them both racing to get there they both saw what would be every persons nightmare, their entire contents of their home gone, and their cat Bonnie nowhere to be found. With the help of the community, friends and families we can all help them get back to normal, help them get through these tough times. Unfortunately, they lost everything therefore they need to start over from scratch. I am asking if you could help in anyway to help them to move on from this horrific nightmare they would be greatly appreciative.
