Melissa and Roy’s Recovery

Dear friends and community,

My sister Melissa and her husband Roy have been through a lot in the past few years. Melissa's cancer diagnosis was a difficult time for our family, but we were grateful when she rang the survivor's bell in December of 2021. However, the radiation treatments that she received have caused a great deal of damage to her body, and she has had to undergo multiple surgeries to address the issues that have arisen. Despite all of this, Melissa has remained strong and determined to overcome every challenge that comes her way.

Through it all, Roy has been there by her side, providing unwavering love and support. He has been with her through every surgery and every day of her recovery, taking care of her in every way possible, including her most recent surgery on March 29th where unforeseen adjustments had to be made in the operating room. Thankfully, the surgery proved to be successful. However, the strain of it all has taken a toll on Roy's health as well, and on the same day of Melissa's surgery, he suffered a heart attack. He has since undergone open-heart surgery and is now in recovery.

Our family is grateful for the excellent care that Melissa and Roy have received at Piedmont Hospital, but the financial burden is becoming overwhelming for them. That is why we are reaching out to our community for support. We have started this GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds to alleviate some of the financial stress that Melissa and Roy are facing.
