Melissa Kamm - Human Understanding

I wanted to take a moment to reach out to some co-workers and friends on behalf of our dear friend, Melissa Kamm.  Human Understanding is at the heart of what we do daily at NRC.  Mel has always been the voice of Human Understanding for our company and goes above and beyond for all those in need of help over her 25+ years at the company. When tragedy strikes, a baby is born, or when a loved one passes, Mel is the first one to send flowers offer a shoulder to cry on or go out of her way to help raise money or whatever that individual needs to get through difficult times. 

 I have watched one of my best friends go through some extraordinarily trying years recently with her daughter Alex and related medical issues.  She has all but exhausted her PTO balance to be there for her daughters doctors’ appointments, as well as donating PTO to others in need over the years. Now, I watch her prepare to become a grandmother for the first time.  While it is a joyous occasion it comes with some very heavy burdens for Melissa to bear.  I have talked with her for months about the upcoming birth, related hospital/doctor expense, as well as time off work.  With stress around every corner,  I really want her to able to relax. Be able to enjoy this time off with her daughter and first grandbaby without having to worry about paid time off or how the all bills will get paid. 

 Donating PTO will not help Melissa in her current situation due to PTO donation regulations.  I have set up a go fund me page and the link is listed below. Cash or check donations (Please make checks out to Mel) will help to offset the time off without pay, it will also help pay related medical bills and the hospital delivery costs. Hopefully this will allow for her to take a week or 2 off to get Alex and Aniyah into their new routine. 

 If you would like to help, please stop by my desk before the end of the day Thursday to sign a card and or make a donation via any of the methods listed above. Then on Friday I would like to surprise her at the hospital with the card and donations. I’ll try to tape it so I can send you all a video of the surprise! She will hate that we fussed over her while crying tears of joy at how deeply she is loved. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
