Please help Melissa, she needs and deserves it

Melissa has been a great friend of mine for over 15 years now, she's a beautiful human, selfless, determined and the best mom I know.

From running away from a very hard home life at 12, having her first child at 14 to the death of her youngest (7th child) at less than 3 months old, Melissa has been relentless in her determination to build a better life for herself and her children.

And she has. Completely on her own (no family) she has managed to leave inner city neighborhoods to keep them in a safe home , fed, loved and with each child feeling like they are her favorite.

Melissa is sick. At just 38 years old she has been diagnosed with acute heart failure. She spent a week in the hospital, she lost her full time job as a chef, she has to wear a life vest while waiting for surgery to have a defibrillator installed, she has so many doctor appointments, and is still caring for her 5 children still at home.

She needs help. Her car broke down which has been her main source of income after losing her job (delivery apps) and will cost $850 to fix, her rent is coming up again which is $2400 a month, and the stress of all this can literally kill her.

I am trying to raise money for her in hopes to reduce her stress for a little bit while she learns to navigate this new, serious, illness. She needs time to find a new job, she desperately needs her van fixed to keep some money coming in for her rent and kids.

Melissa was sick for weeks but didn't go to the doctor. She had to go to work, feed her kids, etc and did what a lot of us do, convinced herself she was fine. When she finally did go in, they told her she needed to be transferred to the ER immediately. She said she would go but had to go home first. She went home and cooked 3 days worth of food for her kids before going into the ER.

To know Melissa is to love her, she will give anything she has to anyone who needs it. Right now, she needs us.
